Program Description:
Our Club Goalkeeper Program is designed to offer position specific training for goalkeepers within our club and from around the Ottawa area. The OSU goalkeeper coaches are highly qualified and understand the needs and demands of this unique position. They deliver a specialist, progressive program, full of high-tempo, structured coaching sessions and drills to fine tune all key elements specific to goalkeeping.
Program Details:
The Goalkeeper Program is divided into different training groups, dependent upon age and ability level as per below:
• Our entry-level program, as part of our Recreational Program.
• The Junior Goalkeeper Academy (U9-U12 goalkeepers)
• The Intermediate Goalkeeper Academy (U13-17 goalkeepers)
• The Elite Goalkeeper Academy (U11-18 Force Black).
Training is offered ONCE or TWICE per week. Lastly, the program is also delivered with weekly summer camps for U9-U12 goalkeepers through July each year.

Coaching Qualifications:
Our Club Goalkeeper coaches hold their Ontario Soccer Goalkeeper Certificate and are working towards the Canadian Soccer Association goalkeeper License. The coaches also participate in numerous professional development courses and conferences each year.
Program Curriculum:
The Goalkeeper Program curriculum is based on the essential key areas of goalkeeper success on the field.
Technical: footwork, handling, diving, high balls, positioning, distribution, and communication.
Physical: Balance, coordination, speed, agility, endurance, strength and flexibility.
Mental: increase personal effectiveness under pressure; dealing effectively with mistakes, setbacks and criticism; maintaining self-confidence; effective decision making; bravery, concentration; motivation and discipline.
Tactical: developing a better understanding of the game; initiating attacks; commanding the penalty area; preparing for set pieces; development of outfield skills and overall tactical awareness.
